ATA is currently building a multi-disciplinary engineering team to support the development of embedded processing systems for both commercial and DoD applications. Our primary focus involves the application of state-of-the art, FPGA, and System-On-Chip (SOC) devices to high performance video processing, adaptive optics, laser communications, imaging sensors, and a wide range of real-time control systems for inertial measurement units, fast steering mirrors, and stabilized telescopes. ATA is looking for candidates who are interested in working within a small, agile, innovative team and who share a strong desire to create a work environment that is highly collaborative, well compensated, rewarding and fun. We are looking for candidates to grow our current team. Core responsibilities of these positions involve developing, implementing, and testing real-time video processing algorithms and hardware solutions using a mix of software and FPGA-based acceleration. Example applications include object detection and tracking, real-time video enhancement, object recognition and classification, position/attitude estimation, as well as a range of high-speed processing functions supporting laser optical alignment and adaptive optics. These positions will contribute toward market growth establishing new and evolving current ATA products and solutions for defense and commercial applications. Candidates will support developing algorithmic concepts employing tools such as MATLAB®/Simulink®, but likewise play a key, hands-on role in translating these designs into working, real-time hardware. We seek creative thinkers for both the idea and implementation phases. While ideal candidates would have broad experience with implementation of algorithms using FPGA hardware, this capability is not strictly required. Candidates with solid fundamentals in image processing and computer vision can expect to be mentored on the process of leveraging FPGA hardware and marrying it with software based processing. We seek to make multiple hires with these skill sets.


  • - Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or
      equivalent experience

  • - U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance

  • - Familiarity or coursework in image processing, computer vision, and machine learning

  • - Familiarity or experience with object detection, tracking, and recognition techniques

  • - Basic experience with C/C++ programming and MATLAB®/Simulink®

  • - Basic experience with computer vision software tools such as Open-CV or MATLAB®


  • - Master’s Degree or higher with primary focus in computer vision, or equivalent experience

  • - Strong background in digital signal processing, statistical analysis, object tracking algorithms

  • - Well versed in MATLAB®/Simulink® and embedded software programming

  • - Knowledgeable of real-time operating systems

  • - Familiarity with FPGA-based image processing and Xilinx FPGA design tools

  • - Experience with Xilinx Zync System-On-Chip devices

  • - Experience with thermal imaging, laser active sensing, and adaptive optics
